Community Tampa Bay

  All youth deserve to feel safe while they develop their own identities and chart a course for their futures. Yet research shows that nearly 30% of students are harassed or bullied because of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability. Bullying, discrimination, and hate diminish the safety and quality of life, health, education, and economic vitality of our community as a whole. With all of the incredible challenges we face in ending discrimination, it may seem impossible to make a difference. But Community Tampa Bay does just that. Our vision is a community free from all forms of discrimination. We work toward that ambitious vision by cultivating inclusive leaders to change their communities through dialogue and cross-cultural interactions. That means we give people the tools to have hard conversations with others who don't look like them, and we empower individuals to build relationships based on mutual understanding and respect. Community Tampa Bay works with individuals, groups, and organizations to create an inclusive society strengthened and empowered by its diversity. By influencing attitudes and behaviors through our initiatives we lead efforts to increase communication and understanding among persons of diverse backgrounds. We openly address ignorance, fear, and hatred by providing safe havens for meaningful dialogue.
