$10,000 Goal
Over twelve years ago, five of us came together and created the business plan for C5. Our goal was to humanely reduce the senseless euthanasia of feral and free-roaming cats and reduce the overpopulation issue facing our local area. We knew Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR) was our best option.
Our small team of five volunteers started on this mission and successfully trapped our first cat in June 2009. She was spayed and vaccinated at Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. From this first cat, we knew our plan was already working, but we could only imagine at the time how much of an impact we would make.
The purpose of C5's participating in #Giving Tuesday is to generate funding to Trap, Neuter and Return feral cats. Each cat also receives a 3-in-1 vaccine and rabies vaccine. Each surgery is $60.
C5 does not receive Federal, State or local government funding with the exception of a small grant from Clark County.
We rely on donations, TNR grants which are limited, and Fundraising.
Through the years, our all-volunteer organization has remained focused on bettering the lives of feral and free-roaming cats, also known as community cats. Working directly with caretakers, volunteers facilitate TNR and all surgical and veterinary costs are covered by C5. Once cats are trapped, they are taken to Heaven Can Wait Animal Society to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped before returning to their outdoor home.
After sterilization, the cycle of breeding ends, kittens are not born to suffer in dangerous conditions, and male cats no longer fight for dominance. This practice of TNR has been proven to humanely manage feline overpopulation and provide healthier and safer lives to community cats. Here in Las Vegas, our efforts have helped to successfully reduce euthanasia at the local shelter from 18,500 cats per year in 2009 to 838 euthanized in 2022.
We continue the number of cats we trapped. So far this year, we have trapped 62,404 This goal would not have been possible without your support. For that, we are truly thankful to you!
We hope you join C5 in celebrating this achievement by donating to our cause. As we look to the next 50,000 we stay focused on our original goal of saving the lives of feral and free-roaming cats and thank you for sharing in our vision!
