Companions of CPAS

Companions of CPAS is a non profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals at Caddo Parish Animal Shelter, an open intake shelter that euthanizes for space.  We work to reduce euthanasia rates by networking with local and out of state rescues, coordinating safe transports, and providing medical care for animals in need, including heart-worm positive dogs. 

Companions of CPAS also promotes education and outreach initiatives designed to strengthen public understanding of animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and the critical role of adoption and fostering.  In collaboration with shelter staff, rescue organizations, and community supporters, Companions of CPAS helps expand lifesaving opportunities for animals in need and supports efforts that lead to long-term positive outcomes.

In addition to assisting at-risk animals with urgent and ongoing needs, Companions of CPAS also promotes public awareness of the animals at Caddo Parish Animal Shelter by highlighting their stories through our Facebook page and other outreach efforts.  By bringing visibility to individual animals and the challenges they face, Companions of CPAS encourages adoption, fostering, rescue involvement, and stronger community support for shelter animals.

Through advocacy, medical support, transport coordination, and community engagement, Companions of CPAS is committed to giving each animal the greatest possible chance at safety, healing, and a loving future.
