Compassion Delivered was founded in January of 2017 by Amanda & Daniel, a culinary-trained chef, after they recognized a need in our community that they wanted to see met. They supported an organization out of state that provided healthy meals to individuals who dealt with life-threatening or terminal illnesses, which hit home for them. They had personally been affected by people in their life who have struggled to provide themselves the nutritional meals/needs while coping with what's happening to them.

The pilot program allowed us the opportunity to open our doors and begin helping even more individuals in our community. The Anschutzs began in our home kitchen and piloted the program with seven individuals that lived in Stark County. These seven individuals became the program's eyes, ears, and taste buds. "We learned so much from them, but what was even more important is they allowed us to walk the journey with them, says Amanda. They started as strangers but ended up as a family to us."

Not only do we provide healthy fresh meals each week, but we also have the chance to spread kindness. Children decorate our delivery bags throughout our community. They also help us write encouragement cards that we pass along to our meal recipients. These two items can also change someone's mood and lift spirits; it's a vital part of what we are doing.

Now we work out of Evermore Community church's kitchen and have been able to help over 240 families in Stark County, and given over 15,500 meals for free. To qualify for our free meals, the person needs to seek medical treatment or see a doctor for their life-threatening or terminal illness. It is not based on age or income. We genuinely believe that an act of kindness, such as a meal, can give hope and strength. We rely on donations to help us provide each meal for free to those we are serving. We also hold two major fundraisers each year, Swing for Change Golf Outing in June and our Be the Change Gala in October.

We realized that, like us, so many people had been touched by a family member or friend who has suffered from life-threatening illnesses or diseases and had to choose between nutritious meals or medication. We would love the opportunity to have you get involved in what we are doing in our community either through volunteering, donation, or referring someone you know. We genuinely believe that the body can begin to heal with the right food sustainability program. Food is medicine, and we don't want to see people choosing between medical care or suffering malnutrition and hunger from their illnesses or diseases.

Mission: We provide healthy meals to people who are coping with chronic, life-threatening, or terminal illnesses in our community.
