Computers for Kids

A nonprofit organization

3 donors

Computers for Kids (CFK) is an organization formed in 2002 in Boise, Idaho. CFK takes donations of computers; refurbishes and licenses them; and then donates fully-equipped computer systems to students in grades K through second year of college, and any non-profit organization that includes any churches or school districts. Through the generosity of individuals and businesses, thousands of students and schools have the opportunity to participate in the technology world of today that they might otherwise not have.

It's not a pen and paper world anymore and computers are necessary for children to complete their schoolwork. For our kids to reach their full potential, they must reach a certain level of comfort and competence in using computers. The correlation between quality of education and quality of life is undeniable. Education is one of the most powerful instruments for reducing poverty and inequality to achieve a long-term, sustainable difference in people's lives.

But it doesn't stop there; as students explore their computers and work with the two educational software programs provided by CFK, they practice the various skills they will need to succeed in school. Our computer offering often creates a spin-off effect in these children's families when the computers are used by parents for their own needs such as studying to get their GED, learning English, exploring the internet for new jobs, and communicating with friends, family, and their child's school. In addition to improving student educational learning and technology skills the community also benefits. Businesses and citizens can utilize a giving opportunity that provides tax breaks and keeps electronic equipment out of landfills. Vocational students are given intern opportunities in programming and refurbishing computers. The environment is improved by the reduction of toxic materials being discarded. And schools and other nonprofit organizations are provided a low-cost avenue to obtaining computer equipment for their organizational needs.

So please join us in serving our mission of providing home computers to students for their education and knowledge. For more information visit us at www.cfkid.org or like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/cfkidaho1. Let's "Bridge the Digital Divide" together. Thank you.
