Congaree Kids Kamp

It is our mission, through Kids Kamp, to REACH the Children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ENGAGE the local churches, breaking denominational, racial, and financial barriers, as well as CONNECT with the community families.

In it's 23 year history, Kids Kamp has impacted thousands! In 2019 over 1,000 children attended Congaree Kids Kamp, and 443 children made a decision to follow Christ!

Congaree Kids Kamp has been providing a free week-long summer camp for children ages 4-15 since 1999. Each year 400 volunteers from local churches come together to host Congaree Kids Kamp for over 1,000 kids. It is five evenings filled with good food, lots of fun activities, and ministry. Recently a young mother shared with us that she attended Kids Kamp when she was in elementary and middle school, and it was an experience she wants her son and daughter to enjoy. She remembered the friends and fellowship she experienced the entire week and the words of ministry have stayed with her to this day. Now a second generation is attending!

The stories of the kids at Kids Kamp vary widely. South Congaree is not an affluent area and many children do not have the means to have any sort of summer camp experience nor to hear the Gospel message. Many do not consistently receive a good meal during the summer months either, so dinner is a highlight of their summer day. Sometimes a child will ask for leftovers, so that they can take them home on the bus, to feed their siblings. And many times, their siblings are waiting in anticipation for them at the bus stop when they return home!

As with children everywhere, there are some serious issues with the children attending Kids Kamp. Some have suffered abuse; some have experimented with drugs; some are not sure where they will be living next week. The Gospel message of Kids Kamp has been heard by many. It has given them reassurance that Jesus does love them and that He will save them if they have faith. One young teen confided that she had been getting high often and was seeing her life from a very dark place. She came to Kids Kamp a few years ago and followed her peers to fit in for the first few days. Then during a music ministry program, she felt something different: an awakening, a hope, a chance of a new beginning. She listened, kept listening, and she finished the week by turning over her life to Christ. She has never looked back. Small miracles like this can and do occur at Kids Kamp.
