Connected Horse

Providing Hope and Joy to Those Impacted by Memory Loss and Dementia. 

Connected Horse was established in 2015 to help people affected by memory changes and dementia along with their care partners through therapeutic equine-guided workshops. Based on research conducted at Stanford University and UC Davis, our programs focus on the relationships between people and horses. The human-horse connection is especially powerful as the nonverbal responses and behaviors of horses often act as a mirror to their human counterparts.

WORKSHOPS

The Connected Horse workshops provide opportunities for engagement enriching the lives of participants. Trained facilitators guide on-the-ground interactions between horses and participants, who report a greater sense of awareness, confidence, and social connection. These invaluable workshops are offered for free to all people affected    by memory changes and dementia and their care partners.

BARN CONNECTION PROGRAM SENSORY ENGAGEMENT KITS FOR AT-HOME, SENIOR COMMUNITIES AND ADULT DAY CENTER

When it’s hard to stay connected, our sensory engagement kits can help. The sensory engagement kits are ideal for anyone affected by memory changes or dementia and their care partners. The kits are designed to create a virtual ‘day at the barn' for people at home, senior communities adult day programs. 

BARN CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Expand your barn program to help those impacted by memory changes and dementia. Barns and therapeutic centers throughout the country are looking for expanded ways to support those living with memory changes or dementia and their care partners. Our evidence-driven equine-guided program provides therapeutic benefits both for people with memory changes as well as their care partners. Our Barn Partner Program, which began in California and Nevada, is now being offered to qualified barns throughout the United States and Canada.
