BE PART OF THE NOTE-WORTHY CAUSE — SUPPORT CHORAL ARTS!
The Connecticut Choral Society
It began quietly. A handful of singers—fewer than 30—gathered in a room not for fame, not for accolades, but for the sheer joy of raising their voices together. From that first rehearsal, something took root: a belief in the power of music not only to move audiences, but to build bridges, heal hearts, and foster a sense of belonging.
At its core, CCS exists to serve. We are dedicated:
- To bringing choral music of the
highest artistic quality to audiences both near and far.
- To cultivating musical excellence
within our ensemble and our broader community·
- And to creating a platform where
art meets purpose, enriching lives through performance, outreach, and education.
We believe choral music is not only an artistic endeavor—it is a
form of communion, a mirror to the soul, and a call to shared humanity.
Today, the Connecticut Choral Society is a vibrant musical
force, drawing singers from more than 20 towns across the region. We have grown
into one of New England’s most admired choral ensembles—celebrated for bold
programming, stirring artistry, and Western Connecticut’s premiere
performances of masterworks both timeless and new. But what truly
defines us is not where we’ve sung—it’s why we sing.
Sustain the Song: Support the Arts
Today!
Our music is a gift—to our audiences, to each other, and to the
future. In every phrase, we affirm the values of compassion, resilience, and
hope. Choral music, for us, is not just performance—it is a public offering, a
form of cultural diplomacy, and a reminder that beauty still binds us together
in a fractured world. Over the years, CCS has also offered numerous benefit concerts
in Woodbury, CT, and other regional communities. These efforts reflect our deep
commitment to civic engagement and service through music. For us, outreach is not an adjunct to performance—it is part of
the performance. It is the echo of our song in the lives of those we serve.
Looking Ahead: A Vision of Radiance
We invite you to be part
of this journey as we embark on our next chapter. The Connecticut Choral
Society continues to expand its reach, elevate its artistry, and embrace new
audiences. We are developing future-facing programming that honors tradition
while welcoming innovation—from multi-media collaborations and interdisciplinary performances to music that speaks to global unity, peace, and
the human spirit.
Together, We Lift Our Voices. Together, We Rise.
We welcome new singers, supporters, and partners to join our
journey. Whether you sit in the audience, sing in the chorus, or stand beside
us as a sponsor or collaborator, you are part of a shared story—one in which
music becomes a bridge, a beacon, and a blessing.
Support the Sound. Strengthen the
Purpose.
Your gift to the Connecticut Choral Society does more than fund
a performance—it sustains a movement. With every donation, you help bring
world-class choral music to local audiences, support outreach and education
initiatives, and amplify our mission of cultural diplomacy through the
universal language of music.

Who We Are
Eric Dale Knapp - Artistic Director and Conductor
The Connecticut Choral Society, Inc. (CCS), established in 1980, is an ensemble of auditioned singers who are joined by their commitment to provide a music resource for Connecticut, to encourage singing and performing choral music of the highest artistic quality, and to stimulate greater appreciation and enjoyment of choral music. Now in its 40th year, CCS is privileged to have singers who have continued to sing with CCS, including a charter member who is actively singing.
For the first time in our 40-year history our organization, like so many others, has been impacted by the changes in our everyday lives. As we navigate this uncertainty, with the lack of concerts, events, and interactions that make it possible for CCS to survive, we ask for your help through your generosity. In turn, for every $10 donation, CCS will be donating $1 to the community services that support our neighbors.
From modest beginnings (less than 30 people attended the first rehearsal), we have grown in stature and accomplishment to become a renowned chorus of auditioned singers hailing from over 20 towns in the region. We have appeared in Carnegie Hall (with the New York Pops Orchestra), Lincoln Center, and Yale University's Woolsey Hall, and have toured England, Canada, Europe, Australia and China – but we remain dedicated foremost to bringing beautiful and inspiring works to our local audiences in Connecticut. We are known for our high musical performance standards, outstanding contribution to the arts, and community outreach...
