Connections Peer Support Center

A nonprofit organization

$17,465 raised by 101 donors

Imagine you’ve been in the emergency room for weeks– every minute feeling like hours. No end in sight, but you’re in the worst mental state of your life. Life doesn’t seem worth it. You finally get transferred to an inpatient facility, but weeks go by and a $20,000 bill comes in the mail. How am I supposed to pay for this?

Introducing Connections Peer Support– an alternative to emergency room onboarding and a nonprofit organization that provides FREE mental health support to NH adults. No unexpected bills, insurance, or co-pays. Just a supportive environment of peers– people who have gone through their own mental health challenges. Our three main programs address the needs of NH adults through a person and holistic centered approach.

Our Portsmouth center, located in the west end of the city, offers a variety of support groups on numerous mental health related topics, such as depression, anxiety, meal prep, nutrition, LGBTQ+ support, advocacy, and more! Groups are open to all NH adults at no-cost.

Connections Peer Support also offers a warmline 365 days a year from 5-10 PM that can be reached at (603) 427-6966. Our warmline is staffed by Peer Support Specialists who provide a safe, affirming, and confidential space to speak about mental health challenges at no-cost.

Step Up / Step Down (SUSD), part of the Mission Zero initiative from The State of NH, is our residential mental health program located in Northwood, NH. SUSD is a semi-structured mental health transitional living program (up to 120 days) with 24 hour peer support.

Your donation will help us continue to offer mental health support at no-cost for NH adults! During a time with so much uncertainty surrounding budgets and funding, one thing remains intact: community support!

PS…. every donation comes with a free Connections Peer Support sticker!

Who We Are

Our mission is to promote health, wellness and hope-based recovery for those who have had, currently have, or are at risk of having mental health issues.

Established in 1993, Connections Peer Support Center is run by and for consumers of mental health services. Connections is a place where we find acceptance and encouragement, a place where we do not experience the stigma, judgement, and limitation of being labelled “mentally ill” that we often encounter from others in our lives. This is a place where both members and staff are able to give and receive support and to learn from each other’s lived experience with mental health challenges.
