Cathy was brought to our residential shelter Interface due to runnning away from home, skipping school and not following her parents rules. When she arrived, she was depressed, reserved, and withdrawn, but finally agreed to particpate in our program in hopes that it would improve her relatinships both at home and at school.

While participating in the services, particulary individual and family sessions, Cathy showed noticable progress and improvement. Cathy began to discover that there could be positive outcomes as a result of listening to her parents and going to school. She worked extremely hard on her goals and objectives while at Interface and was able to complete all of them before her discharge. In addition, our Counselor helped Cathy and her family learn and practice skills that helped decrease family conflict at home. During a planned follow up with the family, our Residential Counselor learned that Cathy is attending school regularly and the family contiunues to practice the skills learned during her stay in the shelter.

This is just one example of how we have been helping youth and families in our community since 1970.
