Meet Linda

Linda was facing homelessness and lived in her car with her small dog, Baby, for several years. That was until she made contact with CFTH, where she was assessed for her housing and service needs. With the Council’s help, Linda entered a housing program known as Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), which included her own apartment and supportive services.

After moving in, Linda got to know her neighbors and built a sense of community. She was able to manage her substance use recovery and began volunteering at local recovery and housing organizations. Secure and safely housed, Linda attended classes at Clark Community College to receive her high school diploma.

In 2023, Linda’s newfound stability and recovery made it possible to move out of the program and into a duplex of her own. Today, Linda continues volunteering by serving meals, leading support groups, and helping in any way she can. This would not have happened without financial support from donors like you.

Linda is now thriving in her new home, but the need in Clark County remains high. Your gift today provides hope and solutions, moving people of all ages in Clark County along in their journey from homelessness to a safe and stable home or rent assistance to prevent homelessness. When people have a home, they win, and the entire community wins with them!

Our Mission

Council for the Homeless’s mission is to provide community leadership, compelling advocacy, and practical solutions to prevent and end homelessness in Clark County, Washington.

Why your gift matters

Your gift to Council for the Homeless ensures people like Mary receive the necessary resources to make home possible. Through the generosity of our donors and community partners, together, we find solutions to preventing and ending homelessness.

The story of your impact is so much greater when you consider:

- Children who experience homelessness are more likely to stay in a cycle of homelessness as an adult.

- The longer someone experiences homelessness, the more complicated their situation becomes.

- Homelessness is expensive. Costs add up when you cannot store food, cook, meet basic hygiene needs, and do laundry in your own home.

Your impact is deeply felt by the people we serve:

- “I finally feel safe again.” Mary

- “I can cook dinner for my family. Kids can do homework at the dining room table. It may seem like a little, but it is a lot to us.” Bonita

- “I never thought anyone would really help me. I’ve been out here so long. But things are looking up.” Glenn

Your compassionate gift will help people experiencing homelessness in our community. We hope you will join us and make a life-saving difference for people facing life without a safe and stable place to call home.
