At the Humane Society of Cowlitz County, SPCA, our mission is to provide shelter and care for the lost, neglected, and abandoned animals in our community while enhancing the human-animal bond. Our amazing employees and volunteers work tirelessly to give the animals in our care the best life that we can.
We are dedicated to seeking loving, forever homes for hundreds of homeless, neglected and abused animals every year. Through the efforts of about 25 full and part-time staff, along with the assistance of compassionate volunteers, the Humane Society offers an array of services to our community, including animal receiving and sheltering, pet adoptions, cat spay neuter assistance, community education and outreach. We take in animals of all kinds, including dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits and other common domestic pets as strays, owner releases and from our local Animal Control Officers.
There are numerous initiatives that we are proud to be a part of including Low Income Spay/Neuter Clinics, Low Income Vaccine Clinics, Unsheltered Pets Vaccine Clinics. We also love to be out in the community at events like the 4th of July parade, Squirrel Fest and more!
Founded in 1973 and run as a non-profit agency governed by a board of directors, we have a long tradition of caring for the animals of Cowlitz County. Through the generous support from our community members and local partners, the Humane Society works to provide quality services for our community while working to decrease euthanasia rates, increase awareness and promote responsible pet ownership.
