Create Now empowers youth through arts education and mentoring. For 25 years, we've reached almost 50,000 young people ages 3-24 who are challenged by poverty, abuse, neglect, incarceration, or left orphaned and homeless. We produce a variety of workshops in music, dance, writing, photography, fashion... ALL the arts you can imagine.
Disadvantaged kids in schools also take our comprehensive classes in guitar, visual arts, writing and STEAM, plus we bring thousands of families each year to concerts, plays, Cirque du Soleil shows, and more through our Cultural Journeys program. Create Now's annual arts festivals, talent shows and mural projects are a big hit with youngsters.
During Covid-19, Create Now is providing therapeutic arts programs to the most vulnerable kids in the community. Through Zoom, we're teaching dance, cooking, fashion and photography to youth living at foster group homes, emergency shelters, transitional-living housing and at similar locations - the "forgotten children" who have fallen through the cracks. In addition, our team is distributing thousands of masks, sanitizers, formula, diapers, clothing and more to the most disadvantaged families.
In 2021, teenage girls at a foster group home in Orange County (many of whom are recovering from sex-trafficking) love our photography workshop. They are learning to see their temporary environment and themselves through the lens of a camera. Runaway and homeless teens at an emergency shelter near Downtown Los Angeles are taking cooking classes with a Food Network chef. This teaches them how to fend for themselves as they emancipate from the Department of Children and Family Services. Children facing homelessness at LA Family Housing are enjoying our arts and crafts classes. New programs are continually starting.
We need your support to run these programs and purchase arts supplies and equipment. Every dollar makes a big difference. Please donate generously.
