MISSION:

Create Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with the mission to build a secondary school in rural Uganda which will provide children in need a free education, as well as empower people of local communities through job opportunities, educational programs and community outreach initiatives.  

WHERE:

Nakasajja, Uganda.

Nakasajja is a rural area in Central Uganda. The people of this region are living in extreme poverty, and most struggle for basic necessities like clean water, food and medicine. There are currently no secondary schools in this region, so families have no options. Once children complete primary school (grade 6) they have no choice but to drop out and begin working to help their families survive. Create Foundation is committed to improving access to education for the children of some of the most marginalized communities in the world.

PROBLEM WE ARE ADDRESSING:

Dropout levels are directly related to poverty, with the greater number of dropouts being from rural areas.  Adults in these regions are often uneducated, lack work and there is very little infrastructure set up to help lift these marginalized communities out of poverty. In Uganda 66% of children drop out of school by grade 6. The #1 reason: poverty. There is no taxation system in place which covers free schooling, if a child wants to attend they must pay tuition each term. 38% of Ugandans live in extreme poverty (below $1.25 PPP/day) and struggle for necessities (clean water, food, medicine) and therefore, education is often not seen as an option. Children are often forced to drop out of school to help their families survive, with the hope of one day returning, but most do not.  And so, the secondary school attendance rate is a staggering 17%!

Children that are lucky enough to attend school, often lack a quality education. Schools are often severely overcrowded, with sometimes a 400:1 student to teacher ratio! Teachers are often unqualified, missing from the classrooms, schools lack adequate facilities, lack books and school supplies, do not have access to clean water, and there are often unsanitary conditions. We believe children deserve better!

SOLUTION:

We will be directly helping to solve this problem by operating a school which will provide 150 children per year a free education! They will be provided a quality education in a community where they are empowered, encouraged and uplifted! We will prepare our future students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become productive members of society; taking critical steps towards a more self-reliant Africa. Create will also empower members of local communities through providing job opportunities, adult education/job training programs and outreach initiatives.

WHAT WE ARE FUNDRAISING FOR!

In September, we purchased two acres of land in Nakasajja. We broke ground in January, and have since cleared the land for construction, and built a road which provides access through the village to our school, and a drainage system. But additional funding is needed to build! 

With your help, we can begin constructing our classrooms! We can make a difference in the lives of thousands!  We have a construction team ready to help us build, we have the land, the only thing standing in our way is the funding! We believe that every child deserves an education… the opportunity to live a better life.  We believe that all people deserve the opportunity to live happier, healthier, more prosperous lives. And our mission is to empower the people of Nakasajja and surrounding communities through education to gain employment, become self-sufficient and pull themselves out of poverty. To create a lasting and powerful impact on these communities for generations to come.
