The Creative Alliance was founded in 1995 to present and promote Maryland artists, engage diverse audiences and improve the quality of life in Southeast Baltimore neighborhoods with arts and education programs. In 2003, we redeveloped the vacant Patterson Movie Theater and opened Baltimore’s first multi-arts center.

The cornerstone revitalization project for Highlandtown, The Patterson houses a 200-seat theater, two galleries, a film and video production center, 8 live/work studios, classrooms and offices. Clementine at the Creative Alliance, a new restaurant, just opened in our own Marquee Lounge to serve food and beverages to our patrons and neighbors and add vibrancy to our neighborhood.

Our Mission

The Creative Alliance builds communities by bringing together artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds to experience spectacular arts programs and engage in the creative process. We provide support to area artists, promote Baltimore as a center for creative production, act as a positive force in our community, and advocate for cultural expression rooted in a sense of place.
