Creighton Community Foundation

Creighton Community Foundation was established in 2013 to support low-income Creighton School District #14 and surrounding communities within east-central Phoenix boundaries. 

Our mission is to develop sustainable programs and initiatives to help improve youth life outcomes. We focus on building vibrant, healthy communities where strong neighborhoods, inspirational adult connections, and excellent, well-supported schools help kids reach their full life potential.  Our community youth workers work inside schools with children to provide resources and companionship to those who need it. Not only do they provide resources, but they work to encourage youth to get more involved in their community by hosting service clubs and activities. Will you help inspire a kid today? A key part of our programming, we aim to put our community members on a food security pathway, as most of our neighborhoods exist in food deserts. This pathway has 5 steps; first, we begin by providing emergency food boxes almost every Saturday morning - feeding about 400 families each week. In addition to our emergency food box program, we also host a medical food box program, which provides low glycemic food to those with diabetes. People who receive food boxes are encouraged to apply for S.N.A.P. (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), and we provide assistance in filling out that application. We also inform the community of different programs that may be of use to them.  For example, many farmers markets provide Double Up Food Bucks for S.N.A.P. recipients, which doubles the amount of produce one is able to purchase. We host multiple community gardens in neighborhoods that are 65% below the poverty line, empowering those communities to be sustainable and resilient. Finally, throughout this whole process, neighbors are connected to not only resources, but also to one another, fostering a sense of community throughout the Creighton school district.
