$335 raised by 7 donors

The Crescendos Alliance 2016 goal is to generate $8,000 to continue programs in the following areas:

YOUTH

Help us meet our Idaho Gives 2016 Campaign goals and Crescendos Alliance will pilot our Idaho-Peru Skype-Pals Exchange!

Farmworker children in rural Idaho will have weekly Skype conversations with farmworker children in rural Peru.  They will get to learn about the lives and cultures of agricultural communities thousands of miles apart!

We will also continue the Crescendos Alliance Happy Health Farm Kids program. It provides weekly educational sessions to youth in farmworker communities.  These sessions focus on three-priority areas: mental health, nutrition and ways to maintain a healthy environment.

In partnership with Fueled by Love, we will provide education on topics such as:

-substance abuse prevention

-anger management

-assertiveness training

-teen pregnancy prevention

-building negotiation skills

-conscious choices for nutrition

-staying hydrated

-protecting the environment

-methods of using and conserving fresh water

FAIR TRADE

Crescendos Alliance facilitates fair trade principles of social, economic and environmental sustainability for rural families. Last year we saw 300 attendees at our youth program, tested 16 water sources that serve 8,000 inhabitants of rural Peruvian communities and provided more than 500 people with medical, dental and obstetrics care.

Over 50% of rural Peruvians live in poverty.  Many of them are laborers who grow coffee, chocolate and other foods that we all love to eat.

Your donation will support continued fair-trade programs for youth and families in rural agricultural communities of Peru.

Thanks to buyers like Oakland Coffee, who support organics and fair trade, you know that when you drink a cup of their coffee you are supporting ethical agricultural production and consumption. Oakland Coffee is one of our valued donors—buying some coffee from them is another way to support Crescendos Alliance!

US-PERUVIAN CONNECTION

Help us continue Crescendos Alliance’s  US-PERUVIAN CONNECTION!  Professional and student volunteers (MDs, RNs, public health specialists, social workers) from the US work alongside similar Peruvian health professionals in rural communities where small-scale farmers desperately need increased access to services.  US volunteers have worked cooperatively with health professionals in our target Peruvian communities to:

-Improve knowledge and use of obstetrical equipment

-Provide rapid HIV/Hepatitis testing

-Train community members in remote communities to be emergency first responders

-Assess water quality

-Provide youth social and mental health services

2016 can bring even more opportunities to increase health professional skills!
