Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line is a nonprofit organization that provides free, confidential, and 24/7 support for people in crisis via text messaging. Founded in 2013, the service connects individuals in distress with trained crisis counselors who help them navigate their challenges, offering support and resources to address issues like mental health struggles, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other emotional crises. 

The organization leverages technology to make it easy for anyone in need to reach out and receive immediate assistance. People can text a specific keyword (often "HOME" to 741741 in the U.S.) to start a conversation with a crisis counselor. These counselors, who are volunteers trained to listen without judgment, guide texters from a hot moment to a cool calm, helping them create a plan to stay safe and offering referrals to further help if needed.

Crisis Text Line's mission is to support people in their darkest moments and provide a safe space for those who might not feel comfortable seeking help through traditional means. The service is available in several countries, including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland, and it continues to expand its reach globally.
