We provide ways to save lives. The Crisis Center began 40+ years ago because a teenager committed suicide. Our local Crisis Contact phones are connected to the national suicide prevention lines as well as providing a private way to just talk. On any day, someone in need of support calls us.

Young lives ripped apart by family conflict have a chance to mend at Alternative House, our emergency shelter for youth. Over 300 boys and girls a year receive shelter and professional counseling to resolve problems. How do they get to Alternative House? They can just walk in. Businesses help by providing extra entry doors to our services. Almost 400 business sites display Safe Place signs. Law enforcement helps by transporting homeless kids discovered.

If “Joe” or “Jane” are caught by police or school authorities doing something youthfully dumb, they can learn responsibility through our Teen Court program. Youth act as officers of the peer court to determine a sentence for offenders. Parent involvement is required. The result: Kids don’t get into trouble again. They learn about the law and personal responsibility.
