The Crossing School of Business & Entrepreneurship

The Crossing has often been deemed as “the best kept secret” in Fort Wayne, but what if that wasn’t the case? What if every student who needed us actually knew we existed? What if businesses, churches, community members, neighbors, families, and schools in Fort Wayne knew we existed to help empower struggling students to become contributing members of their community?

Lives would be transformed.

• 1.2 million high school students dropout of school every year in the US

•  That’s one student every 26 seconds or 7,000 per day

• 75% of crime is committed by high school dropouts

• 80% of those incarcerated never finish high school
  
  

The Crossing was founded with the struggling student in mind. At the core, we exist to offer a faith-based hope and purpose to those who haven't succeeded in the traditional, education setting. We do this while helping students earn a state-accredited high school diploma and equip them with employability skills through our job training programs.

We have watched over time as these students - who have been labeled as dropout, failure, gang affiliated, or unmotivated - take heed of something powerful and the tide begins to turn.

Students start to realize the HOPE that they are not defined by their current situation, but that they have an opportunity to be seen and live in a new light.

Students begin to grasp the PURPOSE that their life has value and that they have been fearfully and wonderfully made.

DID YOU KNOW STUDENTS WHO ATTEND THE CROSSING:

• 91% report having a positive relationship with their teachers

• 68% are involved in less criminal activity

• 58% use drugs and alcohol less

• 46% participate in sexual activity outside of marriage less

STUDENTS WHO HAVE GRADUATED IN THE LAST 3 YEARS FROM THE CROSSING:

• 69.7% are meaningfully employed

• 15.3% are pursuing post secondary education

• 1.9% have enlisted in the military

Statistically speaking, our students are not supposed to succeed. However, with a newfound HOPE and PURPOSE they are no longer a statistic.

They are… high school graduates, CNC operators, manufacturing employees, electricians, floor installers, shipping department leads, college students, entrepreneurs, and so much more.

Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have been forced to get creative and need your help to meet our fundraising goal. Your generosity in donating allows us to continue to stay in operation.
