Utah's oldest non-denominational Child Welfare agency! 

Founded in 1884, Children's Service Society empowers families, caregivers, and professionals through services that support the safety and well-being of children.

Support Adoption and Ethical Options Counseling:

In 2018, CSS received the "Utah Ethical Leadership Award," highlighting 134 years of ethical, supportive community services and nonprofit leadership. They understand the voices of birth parents matter. By providing free Options Counseling, the birth parents fully understand what an open adoption means. With care through their post-adoption counseling, it allows the birth parents and the adoptive family to receive ongoing support. 

Support Home Visitation to help our children reach their potential:

Services don't stop after birth. They know the first five years of brain development are the most critical. CSS' home visitation program serves families through pregnancy until their child reaches kindergarten. Through home visits, screenings, education, and resources - they strengthen a child's ability to reach their true potential. 

Support Grandfamilies raising their grandchildren in Utah:

Over 21,000 children in Utah are being raised by a relative. Rather than placing a child in the foster care system, relatives step up to help, even at great sacrifice. Many are in crisis when they come to us. The Grandfamilies program helps each family member with support, education and connections to resources.

HISTORY - Serving Our Community Since 1884

Children's Service Society's roots run deep in Utah. On October 13, 1884, thirty-four community-minded ladies met to organize a day nursery in Salt Lake City. Their mission was to provide relief to destitute children and "to obtain such temporary and permanent homes as may be practicable". This was the beginning of the Children's Service Society.
