Jessica, a former CDF scholarship recipient, is one of CDF's success stories.  She enrolled in college to become a social worker, because she was once a victim of domestic violence and trafficking. Jessica states that through the support of the a scholarhip that she received from the CDF, she found the strength and resilience to put her story of self on the line in order to help other women, and through this process, she found the courage to lift herself up.

In spite of the challenges that she had faced, Jessica persevered. She graduated with honors from University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. She recently graduated with her Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California.

Jessica feels that education is the key to empowering yourself to change your circumstances. Her goal is to empower others in vulnerable situations and to help them find that same courage to continue. Her future plans include beginning a non-profit organization, B.I.O.N.I.C – Believe It Or Not I Can.

Last year, one my students’ dropped my college course in the middle of the semester. I contacted the student to find out why.  He told me that his scholarship would not cover the cost of the two classes that he was currently enrolled in.

Fortunately, the Cultural Diversity Foundation was able to help him to pay for his classes. Benjamin, the first to attend college in his family, was able to continue with his college education.

The Cultural Diversity Foundation provides community outreach through its educational programs that are designed to support the educational/vocational needs of adult and dislocated workers and low income individuals who are in need of job readiness training to be competitive in the job market.

Sharon was recently laid off from work and was desperately seeking employment, so that she could take care of her two children.

She contacted the CDF office to enroll in our computer skills classes.  She stated that she did not know how to use Microsoft Office, and that many of the jobs that she was applying for required knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.  Sharon also stated that she could not afford to take all of the classes.

We were able to lend a helping hand to Sharon by enrolling her in the classes for free. It is because of the generous support of the community that we are able to help people like Benjamin and Sharon.

Please support the Cultural Diversity Foundation and help us to continue empowering our community by making your donation today.
