Cultured Mornings

Cultured Mornings empowers youth to reach their full potential by offering practical and applicable life-skill-building services with a focus on food security. We are implementing social justice initiatives by empowering youth through education; skill-building; mentoring; self-discovery; and service learning.

Austin Harris and Marcus Stubbs founded Cultured Mornings on May 28, 2020, with a shared goal to meet the needs of youth in underserved communities. Our goal is to empower youth to reach their full potential and prevent food insecurity with a focus on kitchen-skill, kitchen-safety-skill, nutrition-skill, and interpersonal development. 

Austin Harris, the co-owner of Super Chefs, and the Dripping Crab restaurants has 26 years of culinary and hospitality experience. Austin’s culinary career is inspired by his experience with food insecurity and nutrition gaps especially as he lived on his own and entered into adulthood. Austin began to fill the knowledge gaps at the Sullivan University Culinary Program. 

Marcus Stubbs, a 2022 Louisville Business First Top 40 under 40 young professional who understands firsthand how to overcome food and financial insecurity personally. With the support of community resources, Marcus is a survivor of childhood homelessness and is a doctoral candidate at Bellarmine University.

Austin and Marcus are inspired to work with youth of color and other marginalized communities to know and feel their sense of self-worth and to equip them with the skills they need to avoid food insecurity throughout their youth and into adulthood. 

As a new non-profit organization, we are seeking seed funding to begin our first year to build the following services:

• Cooking demonstrations

• Kitchen and cooking skills, including safety certifications

• Promoting healthier cooking and eating lifestyles

• Inspire youth to consider the culinary and hospital industry as a career

• Mentoring

• Budgeting

• Financial literacy

• Skill-focused summer camps
