The first step towards equity is to ensure that all members of our community can express their needs and feelings and that we can understand them. We cannot think about equity without being able to speak the same language.  Some of the factors that prevent communities from having equal access to basic services for families and educational opportunities for children in Livingston County are the language barrier between migrants and the surrounding populace and the resulting isolation. Cultures Learning TOGETHER, Inc. strives to identify and meet the social, emotional, linguistic, and physical needs of migrants in Livingston County. By building confidence and trust in our team of family participants, tutors and administrators, families are able to voice their needs, learn English language skills to be able to fully immerse themselves in their community and increase their access to health, labor and educational opportunities, thereby preventing or reducing the long term effects of marginalization (among which are depression, higher susceptibility to illness and abuse). Migrant families become recognized members of society that make connections with others and improve the quality of life for themselves, their families and others.   Your donation will help cover the expenses associated with renting a dedicated space for our lessons, supplies and transportation for our program.
