‘Communities of tomorrow’ planners place the library squarely in the heart of vibrant activity. This heartbeat could be the physical library, or the digital library.

Even now, one of Cupertino’s greatest assets and most beloved institutions is its public library, part of the Santa Clara County Library District. It was out of a desire to support and build that asset that community members came together in 1994 to create the Cupertino Library Foundation, a 501©3 Public Benefit Corporation with the purpose of raising money for library programs.

The Foundation’s vision for the Cupertino Library is to encourage life-long learning and self-improvement through library programs and community initiatives, so that its users of all ages may become more knowledgeable and better informed, more enlightened and more proactive members of the community. The Foundation envisions the Cupertino Library as a world-class public library facility for:

  • Self-Education
  • Children’s services
  • Information access
  • Research
  • Recreational reading
  • Technology
  • Business resources
  • Diversity in all areas

Some of the no-charge community programs we sponsor include:

The Cupertino Library Foundation is led by a group of volunteer board members. The Foundation has the Non-Profit Seal of Approval by Guidestar demonstrating satisfaction of transparency requirements and is a member of the Google for Nonprofits program receiving tools to work efficiently. It seeks major donations from corporations, the business community, and other foundations as well as individual donors, and planned gifts and bequests.
