At CuriOdyssey we believe that when people are "science literate," they are better equipped to take the serious environmental, climate, migratory, and geopolitical threats facing our world head-on. In this context, young children are literally our future.

At CuriOdyssey, we treat kids like the geniuses they are. We let them loose to observe wild animals, experiment with scientific phenomena and let the natural world answer their questions. Because learning to think like a scientist early on gives them the tools they’ll need to take on the real-world challenges of the future.

Our kid-centered, inclusive, hands-on, and IMPACTFUL approach sets the stage for lifelong interest in science and the natural world, and develops the critical thinking, observational, and investigative skills children will need to be tomorrow’s citizens, environmental stewards, and leaders. We affirm that these opportunities must be extended to all children, regardless of income.

Located in a bayside San Mateo location in beautiful Coyote Point Recreation Area, CuriOdyssey is a combined hands-on science center and zoo that offers more than 100,000 young Bay Area visitors close-up encounters with scientific phenomena, with year-round onsite visits, camps, and activities. We also host hundreds of classes and field trips for school, community organizations. Thirty percent of our programs are offered free of charge to underserved youth.

We are now midway through a Capital Renovation Campaign that will position us as a leading 21st-century science learning center for the Bay Area and beyond. The new CuriOdyssey will offer twice as much classroom space and triple the exhibit space, significantly increasing our capacity to grow the next generation of scientists and environmentalists.

The new CuriOdyssey (a “Serious Science Playground”) will take us from being a beloved community treasure to a premiere institution for the 21st century and beyond. As we grow, we will lift up young learners and the community with us – helping invigorate the learning, stewardship, and innovation upon which our future society and planet will depend. Please join us on Silicon Valley Gives Day 2016 with your support!
