Curls on the Block is an enrichment program for girls of all curls and colors to embrace, explore and empower their natural selves while working to increase engagement, investment, and commitment to careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).

Camp Curly is a 5 day experience for young girls to grow their confidence in their own hair maintenance, STEAM career and activity exploration while building their self esteem.

Three age ranges: Bantu Knots 6-8; Afro Puffs 9-11; Frohawks 12-15

Camp day begins at 9AM-4PM (early drop off available on limited basis)

Each day there are rotations and sessions highlighting how Hair, Beauty and STEAM are connected.

Specific time to create and explore in the:

Hair and Beauty Corner

Campers receive a Curly Commandment Kit which includes:

Tshirt, Detangle tool, Water Bottle, Hair Spray Bottle, and other items supporting their week of activities!

A few activities include:

Learning their own hair porosity

Identifying curl pattern

Make flax seed hair gel

Make hair refresher

DNA extraction

DIY Makeup Activities

2-5 Hair maintenance techniques

The Camp Curly Kickoff is to pick up kits and meet facilitators! Food trucks, activities and more for the community to enjoy as well!
