Dallas Chamber Music Society

INTRODUCTION

The Dallas Chamber Music Society (DCMS) was founded by Dorothea & Bartram Kelly in 1945 with a mission to cultivate a diverse, sustainable audience for great chamber music. Bringing the world’s most esteemed chamber music ensembles to the city of Dallas, the DCMS continues the tradition of making North Texas an international center for chamber music.

OVERVIEW 

This season continues a new series of the Dallas Chamber Music Society - The VanSickle Family Foundation House Concert Series. This series is a vital community initiative of the Dallas Chamber Music Society, designed to expand access to chamber music through intimate, high-quality performances in welcoming home settings. This unique series invites diverse audiences to experience world-class music in informal, personal environments that fosters new community connections. Now entering its second official season, the VanSickle House Concert Series strengthens our outreach by showcasing both established and emerging artists in thoughtfully curated programs. This season introduces a new partnership with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, offering collaborative performances between promising young musicians and seasoned professionals. Each event includes musical insight and casual conversation, followed by a modest reception that deepens engagement between artists and audience. With the support of the VanSickle Family Foundation, we aim to expand both the number of events and the communities served. This project directly supports the DCMS mission by cultivating a broader, more inclusive and wider geographic audience for chamber music and delivering meaningful cultural experiences in the heart of our community—one living room at a time.

OBJECTIVE:

The VanSickle Family Foundation House Concert Series addresses key challenges facing classical music, including declining audience engagement and limited accessibility. Traditional concert halls can feel intimidating to new or younger patrons, creating barriers to participation. By presenting world-class performances in welcoming home settings across North Texas, this series fosters a sense of connection and inclusivity, attracting diverse audiences while maintaining the highest artistic standards. At its core, the initiative is deeply community-oriented, creating shared cultural experiences that strengthen social bonds and bring neighbors together through music.
