Dance 4 Health Inc

Dance 4 Health provides dance, fitness and nutritional education to address the escalating rates of diabetes and obesity in underserved communities. We began as a subcontractor for the After-School All-stars and East Valley YMCA’s after school program until the financial crises in 2008, when school budgets were drastically cut. We then needed to re-tool our business model and fund raise in order to support our program. We are currently providing an in-school program at Summerdale Elementary and planning for the 2015/2016 school year. Our aim is to partner with other like-minded organizations to restore health and physical education programs to all children in public school. Currently, less than 30% of 5th graders in California meet the minimum fitness standard. If current trends continue, the health related consequences will present an unprecedented burden on youth, their families and the health care system. We’ve received funding from the: VMC Foundation, City of San Jose, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Fanimecom, Matching Gift Program from Microsoft & Farmers Insurance and private donors.
