DARE - Direct Action for Rights & Equality Inc

Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE) is a membership based community organization whose mission is to organize low-income families in communities of color for social, political, and economic justice.  DARE was founded in 1986 by families in Providence’s Southside who joined together to fight for better living conditions and a voice in their community.  In our campaign work and through organization-wide initiatives, DARE works to undo the systems of oppression that are the root cause of the problems facing our communities. Over the past 34 years, DARE has used direct action, leadership development, and political education to build a tradition of innovative, community-driven policy changes.
