Davenport provides high quality child care and preschool at a price working families can afford.  As a nonprofit Davenport relies on donor support in addition to modest tuition fees. Please help support this vital resource to Hilltown children and families. 

A child's social and emotional growth is critical to developing into a responsible and caring community member. Children play outside nearly every day - rain or shine - and regulary hike in the surrounding woods.  Community partnerships provide weekly yoga and music lessons as well as trips to the public library and multigenerational music and puppet performances.

Children at Davenport are part of a community and that community spirit is modeled throughout the curriculum. At Davenport there are lessons in learning to share and in turn taking. Children learn that they need to communicate their feelings to their peers and handle their emotions in ways that don’t hurt others. There are chores and tasks to help the classroom run. There is learning the value one brings to the community as a participant and active member. By fostering a sense of community, our children can create an atmosphere where they learn from one another, from others opinions and thoughts, and different learning styles.

The Davenport community extends beyond the classroom to the families we serve. The teachers of the center have a good grasp on the fact that they must work as partners with families in order to promote the learning of the children they care for.
