When Rose first walked through the doors of Day Nursery Association in Scranton, she was a shy four-year-old whose family had just moved to the area. Her mom, working multiple jobs to make ends meet, worried about how she would adjust. She couldn't afford expensive childcare, and she needed a safe, nurturing place where Rose could learn and grow.

At Day Nursery, Maria found more than just a classroom—she found a second home. Through our dedicated teachers and developmentally rich curriculum, Rose began to thrive. She learned to share, to count, to express herself in words and art. She made her first friends. She built the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Today, Rose is excelling in kindergarten, and her mom credits Day Nursery with giving her the confidence and skills she needed to succeed. “This place changed everything for our family,” her mother says. “It gave Rose a chance.”

Who We Are

Day Nursery Association is a non-profit organization that was begun in 1909 by the College Club of Scranton, a group of women committed to providing quality care to the children of working mothers. Though much has changed at the Day Nursery, the basic goal has never wavered. The commitment to providing quality care forms the cornerstone of everything that is done here at Day Nursery.
