Founded in 2005, Day Eight manages two programs: the arts magazine Bourgeon, and the dance company Bettmann Dances.

As an arts magazine written by artists, Bourgeon works to increase participation in the arts and to improve access to the arts. Since 2005, Bourgeon has been helping artists develop quality articles about their work to help them gain exposure and connect with new audience, and this Spring we'll publish a book containing articles published in the first five years.

Many D.C. school children lack access to the arts in their own communities and while D.C. is filled with museums that showcase the work of artists from around the world, our book will inspire students and adults with the words and artwork of D.C. artists. Day Eight's other project is the dance company. The Washington Post called our new project -  Quis Custodiet - "a powerful performance." Quis is a work of dance that adresses the issue of security, and empowers audiences to think meaningfully about the disconnect between national and neighborhood security. The Quis artistic team includes a fabulous group of professional dancers, and the amazing glass/video artist Tim Tate. You can see more about the project at http://quis.bettmanndances.com.

We need your support to continue doing what we do -- thank you for your generosity!!
