In today’s shrinking world, having an understanding of those around us is critical as we face the challenges of the 21st century. Join DCOWA today!

The Dayton Council on World Affairs (DCOWA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that has served the Dayton region for over 60 years by engaging adults and youth in global programs.

DCOWA is housed in Wright State University's Center for
International Education. DCOWA is part of the 85 councils around the United States under the World Affairs Council of America.

Our mission is to promote informed opinion and
decision-making concerning international issues.
We engage people on diverse world issues, points
of view, and cultures to link individuals and organizations
with common interests.

The Dayton Council on World Affairs sponsors numerous Junior Councils World Affairs (JCOWA) in high schools in the region with active year-round programming and also provides training for teachers who assist in each school. JCOWA also provides opportunities for high school students to learn about current global topics through a variety of programs.

Because world events impact the future of young people so dramatically, JCOWA is a huge community asset to help them become Citizen Ambassadors, by which they develop an international perspective, understand complex issues and apply global thinking to their decisions. Many of today’s regional leaders remember fondly their early days in JCOWA and the impact it had on their understanding our interconnected world.

We invite you to support our important mission by becoming a volunteer, donor, member, and much more.
