Diamond Educational Excellence Partnership (DEEP)

Our Mission

At DEEP, we empower communities to create the conditions for children to be lifelong learners who lead choice-filled lives.  We measure our success by the number of children who can read proficiently by the end of third grade. 

We have a vision of communities rich in high-quality educational resources that are free to determine their unique potential. One way we achieve this is by engaging children and families with reading at an early age.   

DEEP exists because families are doing the best the can with what they have, teachers are doing their jobs but their jobs are really hard, and schools are not equipped with the resources they need to meet the literacy needs of every student.  DEEP is the missing piece.

OUR IMPACT

We are a proof point of what is possible when research guides instruction. 

DEEP currently partners with 4 elementary schools in the Lincoln cluster of southeastern San Diego attended by over 1,200 students in grades PK-3.  A recent report by the San Diego County Office of Education found that the DEEP model helps improve reading scores for the average EL student better than the literacy models in non-DEEP schools.

We are positioning to expand the DEEP network and increase literacy across our city.
