The Defeating Epilepsy Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to provide the advocacy and educational resources needed to the epilepsy community and our society. Natalie Boehm, our founder, has been battling epilepsy now for over forty years. Despite advancements in care, there is a lack of education about epilepsy, resulting in a very high stigma. Our goal is to help people battling epilepsy have access to better economic and educational opportunities as well as improving their quality of life.

We offer scholarships for students battling epilepsy for higher educational purposes. We teach the PACES program, created by Dr. Robert Fraser and Dr. Erika Johnson at the University of Washington. PACES, an 8-week program, helps individuals with epilepsy learn to set goals to focus on their overall well-being and improve their quality of life. In 2022, we will launch our Purple Warrior Pooches program which will help people with uncontrolled epilepsy be able to receive funds to help them gain access to a seizure alert/response dog. We will also offer this program to veterans who are battling TBI, Epilepsy, and/or PTSD.
