Dem Bois Inc. mission is to provide charitable economic aid for female to male, FTM, trans-masculine identified person(s) of color for them to obtain chest reconstruction surgery, and or genital reassignment surgery (gender-affirming surgery) to help them on their journey to living authentic lives. We work to prevent the overwhelming feelings of dysphoria among trans men of color who have disproportionate access to quality healthcare and or the financial means to obtain gender-affirming surgery. 

Dem Bois Inc. supports trans men of color in the form of helping to relieve body dysphoria, providing visibility, and supporting authenticity. To transform and increase our capacities to care for ourselves and other trans men of color, Dem Bois prioritizes ongoing access to shared experiences that allow us to learn how trauma shows up in our bodies, relationships, and lives. Our Gender Affirming Surgery Grants, help awardees explore and understand their gender identity, relieve gender dysphoria by supporting gender affirming surgery cost, which improves their overall health and well-being. This trickle effect gives them the opportunity to transform how they feel about their bodies and increase their visibility through sharing how their transitions changed their lives. Being able to live authentically uplifts their confidence and propels them forward as trans leaders of color. 

In June of 2022, Dem Bois launched Dem Bois Podcast. The podcast is hosted by Shawn Aaron, the Founder and Executive Director. The podcast serves as a platform where trans men of color voices can be amplified as they share their transition stories, and many other topics that are relatable to trans men of color and their existence. The goal behind the podcast is not only to amplify their voices, but to also: raise awareness of gender transition for trans men of color; build a sense of belonging within an under-represented community; and to lift up the lived experiences of these experts and leaders. As trans men of color are an underserved and under-represented community across the U.S., Dem Bois Inc.’s goal is to create long-lasting positive change within the community by way of creative storytelling. These digital stories will be archived on our website with free viewing access to all communities to understand from the lived experiences of our experts and leaders. Our vision is to prevent the overwhelming feelings of dysphoria among trans men of color. Through the power of creative storytelling, it increases visibility, reduces the stigma around the lived experiences of trans men of color, and it rallies a sense of belonging and camaraderie among those within the trans community. In many ways, it also provides a sense of mentorship as listeners learn more about the lives, stories, and experiences of other trans men of color who may be experiencing some of the same realities.
