DeMarion Sankofa Foundation Inc

Sankofa means connecting the past with the present, never forgetting where you have come from, and recognizing the importance of honoring those who have shown us the way. The DeMarion Sankofa Foundation was created to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Henry Earl Marion, who placed great value on education and living a life in service to others.

We are united by and driven by a desire to give back to our community. Established in 2019, we started out by awarding academic scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors who display academic excellence and plan on majoring in a field of study where they will be of service to others. In 2020, we added a community service grant to our offering to provide support to those individuals and organizations who are serving their local communities in order to positively impact it and effect positive change within it as well. 

After the IMMENSE support from our first Give 8/28 campaign in 2022, we were able to launch two additional programs: the Young Entrepreneur grant program (for those children/young adults who are opening businesses to provide a service to the community) and the Financial Assistance grant program to help families in need.

To date - we have awarded almost $16,000 through our programs, and 100% of the funds we award come from donations like yours! Thank you for helping us to help us!
