Who We Are

DemoChicks values access and education as a means of "Doing Well and Doing Good" and ultimately shows pathways to a successful life and satisfying career to young girls and women. We provide supplemental STEM education, specifically related to the Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) fields, targeted to girls of color within our community with the use of distance learning. 

Our Goals

To encourage young women to consider nontraditional careers historically closed to them, including construction, demolition, architecture, and engineering. For women already working or studying STEM related careers, we intend to create a network of professional women in the field and provide mentorship and community while supporting further growth in their respective fields. We accomplish this through online training sessions with interactive activities, on-site events and hosting visits to schools and events where we engage young people to participate in learning activities. Our DemoChicks Ambassadors are professionals who share insights to college students navigating STEM, ACE or CTE career paths. 

Impact

In five years, through our dedicated founder, Board members and curriculum consultant, we've served over 700 young women and girls. This reach included participants in our industry days and panel discussions, our DemoChicks On-Location program and our DemoChicks On-Line program. DemoChicks has also provided $20,000 in scholarships to Long Beach students. Most importantly, in surveys gauging students' experiences in our online programs, youth surveyed consistently indicate that their knowledge on the topics was increased during the session.
