Demuth Foundation

The Demuth Foundation operates two art museums in downtown Lancaster, the Demuth Museum and the Lancaster Museum of Art, and works to promote the appreciation and awareness of the visual arts in Lancaster. The Foundation preserves the legacy of Charles Demuth and his groundbreaking art, supports current local and regional artists and inspires a new generation of creatives (or future artists) through unique exhibitions and engaging educational programs that serve a diverse community. Our vision is an inspired community where all recognize their inherent creativity and the arts foster a dialogue to enhance the quality of life in Lancaster.

Exciting Exhibitions, Engaging Educational Programs, & Entertaining Events

Our museums mount an average of 15 exhibitions each year, maintain the largest collection of original Charles Demuth artwork in the world, and showcase local artists through its 400+ piece collection at the Lancaster Museum of Art and annual shows like the Lancaster County Young Artists and Scholastic Awards. Collectively, our art museums welcome over 10,000 visitors annually and serve over 2,200 people through educational and outreach programs. 

How We Serve the Community

Our museums are always “admission by donation.”  No other local art museum offers this type of community outreach on a continuous basis. We ensure accessibility to the visual arts for all throughout the year for everyone.
