For decades, Desert Botanical Garden has played an important role in serving children through programs that both support state science education standards and cultivate a connection between youth and our natural environment.

The Garden presents a wide array of programming designed to introduce children to our desert, help them build connections with nature and encourage applied science experiences in an outdoor setting. Some of our programming includes: Seedlings classes for preschool aged children and their caregivers, summer and spring break camps, Sonoran Desert Adventure standards-based curriculum, guided field trips for classes grades preK-8, Desert Discovery programs for Girl Scouts, Learning Labs enrichment for homeschooling families, and other family programs.

During the 2012-2013 school year, the Sonoran Desert Adventure program engaged more than 25,000 children in learning about science and our desert ecology, nuturing an appreciation for our environment that will help to protect the desert for future generations. Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program focuses on biomimicry, the scientific process through which nature, its forms, functions, and processes are studied to develop sustainable solutions for human problems.

Your donation to Desert Botanical Garden on Arizona Gives Day will be directed towards children's educational programming at the Garden.

Mission Statement: The Garden’s commitment to the community is to advance excellence in education, research, exhibition and conservation of desert plants of the world with emphasis on the Southwestern United States. We will ensure that the Garden is always a compelling attraction that brings to life the many wonders of the desert.
