Get Your Fun On With Fitness!

The Desert Recreation District provides quality recreational programs, activities and events to residents in the Coachella Valley.  

From The District Gymnastics Academy, tot classes and out of school programs for kids to yoga classes, competitive sports leagues and fitness memberships for adults, there is a wide range of recreational options to  keep us healthy and moving. 

Special programs allow fitness to touch everyone.  Adaptive Sports provides programs for those with disabilities. The First Tee of the Coachella Valley utilizes learning facilities and education programs to introduce life lessons through the game of golf.  Trips for Kids that offers fitness education for at-risk youth.  The Senior Games offers senior athletes an opportunity to show their mettle in over 10 sports in an atmosphere of friendly, yet healthy competition and comarderie.   

The Desert Recreation Foundation works behind the scenes to ensure that residents have access to programs and activities,that parks and facilities meet the needs of the community and that the District has the resources  to develop programs that respond to the needs of the community.

From a van recently donated that can transport kids from the East Valley to programs and activities that keep them active and happy to the golf tournament that raised funds to support youth golf, the Desert Recreation Foundation is critical in providing recreational opportunities throughout the Coachella Valley.

We live, work and relax in one of the most beautiful locations in the country.  Yet with this abundance of riches, we have residents who cannot afford to participate in District programs.  Our goal is to raise $40,000 by June 2015 so that we can provide recreational opportunities to kids and their families who do  not have the opportunity to join in classes, camps, leagues and other recreational activities that will keep them healthy and active.
