Design Tech High School

High school graduates are becoming adults in a world that is changing rapidly, yet schools continue to educate students as if they are entering a predictable world that functions as a factory system. Even college-ready students are not prepared to solve the many challenges we face in the Bay Area, including problems in public health, income inequality, climate change, education, employment, and more.

A team of school leaders, teachers, parents, and community members came together to create, Design Tech High School, a school that would do things differently and prepare students to solve next generation problems.   

At Design Tech we embed the principles of “extreme personalization” and “knowledge in action” in the student experience by teaching students to solve real-world problems using a design-thinking approach similar to that taught at Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design or d.school.  Learning to use design thinking provides students with a problem-solving strategy they can use throughout their lives to make a positive contribution to a constantly changing world. Design Tech will work with community partners to create a local army of creative, compassionate, problem-solvers with four years experience solving complex problems in the Bay Area.  Teenagers are a great under-utilized resource in our community.  We will put their energy to use learning how to solve problems with the support of our academic program.

Your contribution will go toward roviding Bay Area students with an opportunity to build creative confidence.  Specifically we need to raise money for:

A laptop for every student

Digital Fabrication Materials

Furniture for a creative learning environment

Staff Professional Development

Design Challenge Prototyping materials

Matching Funds!! Chance of a lifetime
