Dexter Elementary School

Dexter Elementary School is located in Evansville, Indiana. Tucked away on the southeast side of the city, Dexter serves 390-400 students, pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.  We are a very diverse school that incudes students of many different backgrounds, socio-economic status, and race. The Dexter Staff includes 18 homeroom teachers, five special education teachers, three related arts teachers, and many others who are committed to investing their talent day in and day out, all for the betterment of our students.  Currently the free and reduced lunch rate at Dexter is approximately 80-85%, and varies by quarter.  We are not a Title I school, therefore, we must be very creative when fundraising and providing extra learning opportunities for our students.  Two years ago Dexter received an "F" from the Indiana Department of Education, however, in 2013-14, our Dexter family rose to the occasion, and we are now a "C" school according to the IDOE.  To our Dexter staff and community we are an "A" school, serving a diverse group of students, who work hard each and every day.  It is our intention to provide our students with the highest quality instruction which can include areas of technology, extra-curriculum initiatives, teacher professional development, and rigorous classroom resources.
