The Future City Competition-North Texas is a project-based learning program that has been inspiring students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math careers by challenging them to imagine, research, design and build the city of the future for over 20 years. Each January students compete at the regional level for an opportunity to advance and compete against teams from around the world at the National Competition in Washington D.C. Our region is unique in that we also offer fourth and fifth graders a chance to compete at the local level. 120 teams from over  50 schools and 600 students from across North Texas participate in the regional program each year. Students research a specific theme and how a city operates. Each student team submits an essay, builds a scale model and presents an oral presentation.

Future City Competition North Texas Region is entirely operated and administered by volunteers dedicated to the goal of promoting engineering education and technological literacy.
