DINOMIGHTS TURNS 30 THIS YEAR!

Since 1995, the mission of DinoMights has been to equip our urban youth to develop physical, academic, social, and spiritual excellence. DinoMights uses a unique approach, grounded in mentoring relationships. We use the game of hockey to build long-term relationships with youth with the goal of enabling them to become confident and successful adults.

IMPACT

The impact of DinoMights is best described in the students' own words. Alumnus, Xavier, a DinoMights alumnus and graduate of Hamline University, sums up the program’s impact on his life this way, “I used to be one of the ‘baddest’ kids when I started this program . . . But [DinoMights] taught me how to change my attitude and become a better person.”  Many Minneapolis adolescents, like Xavier, have been touched by this innovative approach.

EMPOWER YOUNG LEARNERS, FOLLOW YOUNGSTEDT'S LEAD FOR THIS YEARS GIVE TO THE MAX DAY

With so many opportunities for youth, such as academic tutoring, hockey practices, special events, and camps, DinoMights relies on vans to operate effectively. When one of those vans was recently brought to Youngstedt's for major repairs, Youngstedt's decided to step up in a major way. Youngstedts generously donated a 12-passenger Sprinter van complete with a beautiful DinoMights logo decal. This new van has already been put to great use, transporting our Mites to and from hockey practice and our elementary students to tutoring on Tuesdays.

This year, we’re excited to dedicate Give to the Max Day to raising funds to "Fill The Van" for brand new iPads for our academic tutoring program! Each Tuesday after school, our elementary students come together for tutoring sessions where they receive one-on-one support in reading and math from Cristo Rey High School mentors.

These iPads will allow us to bring in engaging learning tools, interactive reading resources, and adaptive math apps that help each student learn at their own pace. With your support, we can create an even stronger, more dynamic learning environment that empowers our kids to grow, gain confidence, and thrive.
