Our Story:

Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum has been committed to educating Utah’s children for nearly 40 years by providing interactive exhibits, cultural programs, and on-site art, science, early childhood, and financial literacy classes in a creative and safe environment. It’s our mission to inspire children of all ages and abilities to imagine, discover and connect with their world to make a difference - so give where you live and help us continue to serve Utah’s next generation of children! Your tax-deductible donation is pivotal in helping to foster a love of play and learning for these deserving children and families!

Our Programs and Exhibits:

Artworks - The foundation for education with many of our exhibits and programming. This includes the Garden, Story Factory, Early Childhood Classes, Move It, Family Workshops, Discovery School Workshops, Community Outreach, Gallery Arts Programming, STEAM Studio, and Cultural Programming and Workshops.

STEM Learning - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics programming and exhibits help inspire children and families to learn through experimentation. Besides our Construction Zone, Kids Eye View Gallery, STEAM Lab and Workshop Room, Block Party, Intermountain Health Care Primary Children's Hospital Zone, and weekly science classes, our Reaction Time and Potential Energy programs visit every 5th grade and Kindergarten classroom in the State of Utah.

Weekly Parent/Child Classes and Open Experiences - These include daily Music in Motion, Time for Tots, Creative Kids, Little Scientist, Dollars and Cents, and open science and arts experiences in the STEAM Studio and STEAM Lab.

Sponsored Admission Program - This program provides admission free of charge to Title I and Head Start students around Utah, as well as special populations and underserved groups including childen and families on the autism spectrum and community organizations providing service and support to children and families along the Wasatch Front.

Why Do We Matter?

Without Discovery Gateway, more than 250,000 children, parents, and educators statewide would not experience the many innovative and experiential exhibits housed within our walls each year. There would be limited access to the hands-on learning that inspires a quarter-million minds to imagine what they could become. More than 49,000 students and teachers could not explore chemistry with our Science Outreach Instructors, and more than 11,000 children and parents who attend early childhood programming classes in our Curiosity Shop would not have the chance to delve into art, financial literacy, science, and reading beginning at just 18-months of age.
