Dixie Derby Girls Roller Derby League Inc

The Dixie Derby Girls Roller Derby League is dedicated to bringing the sport of roller derby to Huntsville, Alabama. We are dedicated to running a safe, competitive, and professional league. As members in good standing of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), we foster and promote the growth of flat track roller derby nationwide.

The Dixie Derby Girls are Alabama's first women's flat track roller derby league. The league was founded in Huntsville in December 2004 by a small group of likeminded women. Since then, it's grown to include 2 teams and over 30 skaters of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and skill levels. The league is completely skater owned and operated, and we depend on the support of our community to keep us going.

Roller derby is an empowering sport. The women who play will tell you it is like nothing else they've ever done; and it's not because it's wild and crazy. Roller derby attracts women who are skaters, natural athletes, and those who have never played a sport in their lives. Our skaters are from every walk of life. They're moms, students, professionals, and blue collar workers. Though they're different, our skaters are all passionate about their team. They practice hard, work together and have a great time doing it. Roller derby is a place for a woman to be whatever she wants to be. On the track, she's not answering to anyone but herself and her teammates.

Huntsville is one of the smallest cities in the nation with an active derby league. Maintaining visibility and interest can be challenging, but the city has always been supportive of us and our many charitable partners. As hometown girls, we believe in giving back to our community as well. Since 2007, we have partnered with many other local non-profit organizations by donating time and thousands of dollars to their causes.

A donation to the Dixie Derby Girls will help up promote and expand the reach of roller derby in the city of Huntsville and the surrounding areas.
