Our founder moved to a charming small-town community in 2000 and quickly realized this beautiful pastoral place seemed to be a dumping ground for unwanted pets. 

There were always new faces showing up at the door. Often very shy but desperately wanting to find food. 

Late one evening, after responding to a noise in the garage, a small puppy sat crying for his mom. Before she could grab a blanket and water bowl for him, a head popped through the pet door with another pup. The mama dog brought in all five of her babies. One of those pups became the namesake of the organization, Dolly Goodpuppy. She typified the plight of so many unwanted pets, dropped out and left to fend for themselves. Many starve, and others die of injuries or disease. Unwanted pets were and continue to be a significant issue. The best solution is a reduction in the pet population through the spaying and neutering of pets. 

We take a lot of pregnant moms, moms with pups, and litters of puppies.

Part of our mission is advocating responsible pet ownership through humane education. 

The needs of animals in our area are still significant. Unfortunately, we do not have the financial resources of larger, more populated communities, so keeping our doors open is a challenge. Our work is essential and a benefit to our community. We can't do it without your help. We appreciate your support.
