Why do dolphins have those big brains? Big brains are about complex social relationships and The Dolphin Alliance Project has discovered the most complex society known outside of humans. The multi-level dolphin alliances that we have discovered in the protected, pristine waters of Shark Bay are comparable only to those in humans. Now we are gearing up for our most ambitious project yet: a ten year study integrating dolphin communication, behavior, genetics and ecology to understand all facets of these remarkable 'political' alliances.
